Doug & Henrietta Ribbens Elementary Ed Scholarship

Dr. Ribbens served Dordt University for 37 years as a professor,
registrar, academic dean, director of library, and Vice President
for Academic Affairs. Henrietta (Miedema) Ribbens was Dordt’s first
secretary and served in the Academic Affairs office with Dr. Ribbens
for 34 years, eventually serving as assistant registrar. The
scholarship was set up to financially encourage deserving elementary
education majors each year, hoping that the recipients will be
enthusiastic, curious, and creative teachers. Recipients must be junior or senior US citizens and must be accepted or provisionally accepted to the Teacher Education Program. Financial need will also be considered.
