Gaming Guild Upperclassman Scholarship
Scholarships will be awarded to returning students who have been an intregal part of the Gaming Guild in previous years. Evaluation of the following criteria will be considered:
• Project Presentations: Students will present updates on their current work and activities within their respective areas of focus, facilitating interdisciplinary learning and community awareness.
• Guest Speaker Dialogues: Cohort gatherings will often feature guest speakers who are leaders in gaming-related fields, offering a platform for students to interact with experts in areas that align with their academic and spiritual interests.
• Guild-Wide Initiatives: As a group, the cohort will collectively work on meaningful projects aimed at benefiting the gaming club and broader community. These initiatives will be designed to blend academic rigor, spiritual enrichment, and practical utility.
Overview
The goal of the Gaming Activities Scholarship is to provide recipients with meaningful community experiences built around gaming-centered training and events. This scholarship is awarded to those who demonstrate genuine connection to nerd culture-related activities, exemplary social and emotional skills, and standout potential to act as a professional leader in nerd culture-related spaces.
Responsibilities
• Meet once per month in scholarship group community activities
o This could include a trip to the cinema to watch gaming-related movies, playing games together, going out to dinner and so on.
• Attend at least one leadership training of choice (four options per year)
o Options include professionalism, networking, and attending meeting with guest speakers
• Participate in one nerd culture mission outreach per year
o This might include:
o Help gaming-based stores clean etc.
o Present on gaming and faith at an elementary school class
o Lead an afternoon event at Dordt for elementary students to play games
o Support and participate in a Guild Special Olympics’ event
• Maintain strong academic standing (2.8 GPA or higher)
• Read and be ready to discuss chapters from two books (one per semester)

This is a one-year scholarship. Scholarship recipients may re-apply and be considered for the scholarship each year.
